Losing Tire Companies Are Starting To Lay Off Employees

09-05-2023

According to foreign media, Nokian Tyres in Finland is restructuring its human resources department.

It is expected that 160 tire workers will face the risk of shorter working hours or layoffs.

It is reported that the positions involved in this restructuring are mainly in its heavy-duty tire manufacturing department. This department focuses on producing truck tires and heavy-duty machinery tires.

The restructuring plan aims to adjust production to cope with the current decline in market demand.

Affected employees may receive 90 days of temporary leave in the future. Some employees' daily and weekly working hours will be shortened.

In the first quarter of this year, Nokian Tyres lost 18.8 million euros (about 144 million yuan).

It is revealed that being forced to sell Russian factories is the main reason for its losses. The resulting shortage of production capacity has affected the company's global business planning.

In February, Nokian announced that its sales business in China had to be temporarily suspended due to capacity constraints.
